Mission Most Possible.  Join us as the Women’s Missionary Society kicks off our Mission Month.  Come and learn that being a follower of Jesus requires our selfless commitment to reaching out to others, both in our community and around the world. Service is our natural response to the love God has poured out on us - it is also life-giving, both to the giver and the receiver.!

May 6, 2007   “Who is going to tell the story?”  Speaker:  Shirley McCall.  We kick off this month’s mission theme as the Women’s Missionary Society lead the worship this Sunday.

May 13, 2007  “Outward, not Inward!”  Join us as Mike Maroney encourages us to look “beyond our borders” as we seek to fulfill Christ’s call to service in the world.

May 27, 2007  “Mission Most Possible” Join us as FPC’s youth group leads us in worship this Sunday through music, drama and more!   Family Sunday

A Matter of Life and Death”  Every once in a while we’ll say to someone, “This is a matter of life and death!”  What we’re saying is that something (whether it be a situation or decision) is very important, if not critical.  Life and Death are certainly important themes in the Bible and we’re going to examine them during the month of April.  Join us as we explore how life and death are woven together in our Christian faith.

Apr 1, 2007    “Dying to Self”  Palm Sunday - Jesus said that if we lose our life for his sake, we will find our life.  That’s a promise – it’s not something we should fear!

Apr 8, 2007     “The Hope of Easter”  Easter Sunday - Easter shows us that Christ answers our greatest questions.

Apr 15, 2007   “Eternal Life” - Death is not the end of life – it is a doorway into eternal life in God’s glorious  presence.

Apr 22, 2007  “Making life count” - Our earthly life is short.  With God’s help we can make every day count, so that we live a life with no regrets.

Apr 29, 2007   “Reformat? Yes/No/Cancel”  Family Sunday - Jesus says we must be “born again” or “born from above” to receive eternal life.  Are we willing to do that?

“GodSpeak”  This is a series designed in response to the many e-mails Mike has received during his last two message series, asking him to expand further on what it means to follow the “Will of God.”  Is God’s will a mystery?  What does God say about our lives, and how can we apply it practically?  Join us as we explore how God’s Word is a compass we can use to assess the decisions we make in all areas of our life.

Mar 4, 2007     “Life in the Service Sector”  (Communion Sunday)  What is the importance of  Communion?  How does it affect the way we live our lives?

Mar 11, 2007  “Checking the labels.”  We’re told to pay attention to what we put into our bodies, right?  Not everything we eat is healthy – reading the labels on food packaging can help us make better eating choices.  Our bodies are the “temple of the Holy Spirit,” and we need to be careful of what we put into them, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Mar 18 , 2007 “The Almighty Dollar”   ‘Nuff said!

Mar 25, 2007 “Relational Check-up”  (Family Sunday)  Jesus calls us to love others as he loved us.  Is this corny stuff, or a powerful recipe for awesome living?

“Follow Me”Your attendance throughout this series would be greatly appreciated!!

Feb 4, 2007     “Being Christ-centred, not self-centred.”  We need to let Jesus take the wheel in our lives, and elders in particular must take this teaching to heart.

Feb 11, 2007   “Walking the Talk - Setting a Christian example.”  Has anyone ever told you “Do as I say, not as I do?”  Doesn’t quite work, does it?  Is it any different when it comes to living out our faith?

Feb 18, 2007   “Sharing God’s awesome message – it’s the Law!”   Should Christians “mind their own business” when it comes to faith?  Or is there a better way, one that blesses us and the people we come in contact with?

Feb 25, 2007   “A Call to Relevance” God has an awesome message for the world, and yet a lot of folks are not listening.  Is that their problem, or our opportunity? (Family Sunday)

"Excess Baggage"  Getting rid of the clutter in our lives.  You know that excess baggage costs us money when we fly on a plane, right?  Forking out a little extra cash at the airport may be a hassle, but we can handle it.  But what about the extra baggage we lug around in our daily life?  Does it affect us?  Does God have anything to say about it?  Join us as we take a look at the things that short-change our God-given potential.

It’s not WHAT you know...   It’s WHO you know!

                                       (An Advent Series)

The Bible is full of rules and regulations.  As children we’re told we should follow those rules in order to please God, and to make sure we end up with him in Heaven.  Sounds reasonable.  But is it?  Problem is...the Bible also tells us that "all fall short of the glory of God."  That is, we can’t please God on our own, no matter how "good" we are.  And stranger still...while the Bible is full of rules, Jesus was most critical of the Pharisees, a group of people who followed all the rules to the letter.  Have you ever felt that you just can’t live up to all the things the Bible asks us to do?   Or that no matter how hard you try, you still don’t know if you’re going to Heaven?  Are you sick and tired of being "good?"  Would you like to feel more certainty in your faith journey?  Fantastic! Come and learn that Christianity is not about following the rules, but about following Jesus.

Ten sure-fire ways to mess up your life!

Can you name the Ten Commandments? (You don’t even need to recite them in the right order, if that makes it easier for you!)  If you can’t...well, relax - you’re in good company.  Yet, have you ever asked yourself why you can’t name all the commandments?  Is it because you think they are old-fashioned or made to spoil our earthly fun?  Or maybe deep down you think they are not important and have no relevance in society today?

Think Again!  Following the Ten Commandments is a life-giving proposition - they were given to us by our loving God who desires that we live in healthy, wonderful communion with Him and with each other.  We invite you to come and learn about the power of God’s laws as we focus on what happens in our life when we ignore them. (A ten-week series running September - November.  Starts September 10)

Prayer by Numbers
Yep...praying is hard to do.  Yet, the Bible tells us that we should pray.  Most of us would have to admit we don't really pray much at all - and when we do, its usually only in emergencies.  To be sure, God wants us to come to him in times of trouble, but there is way more to prayer than just asking for help.  Come and find out that prayer is a conversation with God who loves us deeply and wishes to give us the "411 so that our lives don't become a 911."

June 25 -  Prayer 1 on 1.  Prayer is a conversation with God - no audio available.

June 18, 2006 -  Prayer 411.      Prayer requires our listening to what God wants to say!

June 11, 2006 -  Prayer 911.      Calling on God in times of trouble.

June 4, 2006 -    Prayer 101.      The Basics on Prayer.

"No Fear" An Easter Series. People have all kinds of ideas about God. Oddly enough, our common perceptions about God are not always that helpful, or even biblical. Too many of us "hope" God is real but fear he may not exist at all. If we do acknowledge God’s existence, we can fall prey to a couple of fears: that God is too big to care about us, or worse, that he’s angry with us. Easter is a time to remember our biblical world-view: one that says God does exist, and that He cares very deeply about us. Come and rediscover that God invites us into a life where fears subside, and joy begins!

"I beg your pardon? A series on forgiveness." We all know people who hold grudges. Heck, we just might be that person! Some acts seem unforgivable, but is that really true? And what about the anger and bitterness we carry long after we’ve been hurt by someone else? Is that healthy? Is it right? When the disciples asked Jesus how many times they had to forgive, he answered, "seventy times seven." What’s up with that? Come and learn that forgiveness is the only way to go, both in this life and the next!

"The ABCs of the Christian Life" What’s it take to live as a follower of Jesus, and is there any practical advice for reading the Bible, praying and doing all the other "stuff" Christians are supposed to be doing? Sure there is! February is a "back to basics" month at FPC, and whether you’ve been a Christian forever or you are newly exploring the Christian faith, this series seeks to answer the how-to questions that many people are too embarrassed to ask.

"Relationships Month" What is it with New Year's resolutions? Many of us vow to make life-style changes in the new year. We promise ourselves that we'll quite smoking, or eat better... or yeah... exercise more. All too often though, we don't follow through on our resolutions, and that's a shame. One of the areas of our lives that we neglect (to our detriment!) is our relationships. God has much to say about relationships - He made us to live in intimacy with our families, friends and with HIM! So, why don't we "resolve to relate" in this coming year? God tells us we will be blessed if we do!

"Preparing for Jesus"

Our theme for the month of October is: "Mission: Transformation! God is preparing a place for you." Come and hear this four-week series that will explore our vision at FPC as we embark on a sizeable restoration project to repair the outside of the building. Building campaigns are inevitable, but it will take more than bricks and mortar to survive for another 170 years. Join us to find out why.

What's in a Name?

"The Gospel according to Fish!" "Fish!" is a book worth reading. Although it deals with business and productivity in the workplace, its message is readily applicable to churches and to Christian life in general. The authors pose four principles that taken to heart, can affect the way we live out our faith. "Catch the Energy, and Release the Potential!"

"What is the Wise Thing to Do?" The Bible urges us to live a life "worthy of our calling" as Christians. But that’s easier said than done.. Or is it? Author Andy Stanley writes, "Everyone ends up somewhere in life. You can end up somewhere on purpose." Stanley argues that God has given us the tools to make wise decisions about life, money, relationships...you name it! Want to give it a try? Join us for a four-week series based on the book The Best Question Ever by Andy Stanley.

GPS for the Soul - Have you ever heard of a GPS? That's a Global Positioning System. This handy little gadget lets you know where you are anywhere on earth, and tells you what direction you are headed in. Imagine if we could use a GPS to gauge where we are in our spiritual journey! Where are you on the road to God? Are you feeling lost or stuck in a spiritual rut? Find your way back into the arms of God! A three-week series based on the Parable of the Prodigal Son

Heart for Ministry - Ministry is not just for ministers - we are all part of the "body" of Christ. God has given each of us special gifts, and He wants to use our life and talents for His purposes. Come and discover what kind of heart God has given you, and where He might be asking you to serve Him!

The Comfort Zone - Is Christianity supposed to be one massive drag? Hardly! Is it for real? Certainly! Jesus came to give us abundant lives, but that kind of life requires commitment. Do you feel like your spiritual life is running on empty? Getting back to the basics is the answer!
